DESCRIPTION:Join the Historical Society of Long Beach for a special evening celebrating decades of community service. Come and hear about local history firsthand as City Prosecutor Doug Haubert interviews Evan Anderson Braude\, a community advocate for many causes. The Honorable Evan Anderson Braude's career spanned public service\, municipal governance\, and community advocacy. A licensed California attorney\, he previously served as Special Assistant City Attorney in Los Angeles\, worked in the Office of the Secretary of Transportation in Washington\, D.C.\, and represented the First District on the Long Beach City Council. Mr. Braude is a founding member of Bet Tzedek (House of Justice) Legal Services. Throughout his career\, he advanced tobacco legislation\, anti-discrimination protections\, and affordable housing initiatives\, while serving in leadership roles across numerous nonprofit organizations. He served multiple terms as President of the Board of Directors of the Historical Society of Long Beach\, reflecting his deep commitment to preserving our city's institutional memory. This public oral history program will capture and celebrate decades of leadership and community service. The evening will officially launch fundraising for the Anderson Braude Collection\, a permanent archival collection housed at the HSLB. Through professional recording\, processing\, and preservation\, this project will ensure that future generations   students\, researchers\, policymakers\, and residents   have access to the firsthand accounts that illuminate Long Beach's progress and challenges. Tickets are $100 for HSLB members\, $115 for not yet members.
